College Station Museums for Kids

Museums aren’t exactly known for their kid-friendliness. They’re often full of precious and highly breakable artifacts, and they aren’t always relatable to those under the age of 12. If this is your take on museums, you need to experience museums in Bryan College Station.

In College Station, museums are for everyone. Walk in the steps of a president. Take a peek at the life of the American G.I. Travel back thousands of years into the earth’s natural history. Each of these experiences offer something for people of any age. Discover four of College Station’s best.

George H.W. Bush Presidential Library

Find education and entertainment for the whole family at the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library. One of the best known museums in the Brazos Valley, the library features exhibits that are both educational and entertaining. The permanent collection focuses on George H.W. Bush’s life and presidency.

Get up close to a World War II Avenger Torpedo Bomber, a slab of the Berlin Wall, and more. The museum also welcomes rotating exhibits, from photographs of the Grand Canyon to a look at terror in America. And be sure to take a family photo in the replica Oval Office.

Children’s Museum of the Brazos Valley

Children of all ages are welcome at the Children’s Museum of the Brazos Valley. Here, the little ones can play as if they were all grown up. Shop in a replica HEB grocery store. Visit the family pet center. Climb aboard a rocket ship.

The Children’s Museum also hosts daily events to enhance your kids’ museum experience. From pom pom painting to paper ring crafts, your kids will come away with a creation they can be proud of. Admission costs even less than a movie ticket.

Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History

Learn about the natural world at the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History. This museum aims to educate the College Station community about the world’s natural and cultural history. At the museum, you’ll discover fossils, antique farming equipment, taxidermy mounts, and more.

The museum also features a discovery room with fifteen varieties of live animals. Kids will also enjoy the rotating collections. Each collection brings something refreshing to the museum, like rare rock and mineral specimens.

Boonville Heritage Park

Though it’s not technically a museum, Boonville Heritage Park is a historical site and outdoor experience all in one. This park is the last standing remnant of the town of Boonville, the center of Brazos County in the mid-1800’s.

Tour the Turner-Peters log house, built in 1856. Visit the original Boonville cemetery, the burial place of “The Father of Brazos County.” Or simply stroll through the park's rolling 11.29 acres.

This summer, challenge the notion that kids won’t like libraries and museums. College Station museums have something to offer kids of all ages, no matter their own interest. Add a little education to your getaway when you visit one of these Brazos Valley favorites.
